About Me

I am Amanda, Your Photographer

I'm the person behind the camera, the costumes, the crazy ideas, and probably way too many outfits. I've always had a pretty active imagination.I was the kid with a disposable camera taking pictures of everything, long before I had any idea that photography might eventually become my career. I've always loved art, storytelling, crafting, dressing up, and finding new ways to turn an idea in my head into something I can actually see.And I've always loved getting lost in a good story.Give me a fantasy novel, a romance, a costume, a beautiful landscape, or an excuse to create an entirely new character, and I'm happy. There's something magical about stepping outside of everyday life for a moment and imagining yourself somewhere—or someone—else.Photography became my favorite way to do exactly that.

A little about the journey
I studied Business Management in college with the dream of eventually owning my own photography business. Reality, of course, had other plans, so I spent years working in marketing and events while photography remained my creative outlet. That turned out to be a pretty great combination. My work in marketing taught me how to build experiences and tell stories, while photography gave me a way to create them visually. Over the years, I've photographed everything from people and products to events and businesses, constantly learning new techniques and finding new ways to make an image come to life. And I took that camera everywhere. Travel has always been a huge part of my life, and exploring new places only made me more curious about photography. I've photographed across the country and around the world, and I still get ridiculously excited about finding a new location, trying something I've never done before, or figuring out how to make an idea actually work.Eventually, though, I realized I wanted photography to be more than simply creating beautiful images.I wanted to create experiences.

Where Scarlet Sage came from

A childhood friend once asked me to photograph her for a boudoir session.I said yes.And somewhere during that session, something clicked.I realized that I could combine everything I loved about photography—the creativity, the storytelling, the artistry, the technical challenge—with something deeply personal: helping someone see themselves differently.I watched people step in front of my camera nervous about how they looked and slowly begin to relax. I watched them experiment with expressions and poses they never would have imagined themselves doing. And then I'd show them the back of the camera and hear: “Wait... is that really me?”Yes.It is.That realization changed the way I thought about portrait photography.Because the most exciting part wasn't simply creating a beautiful photograph. It was creating an experience where someone could discover something about themselves.

The person underneath the image matters more than the image itself.

And then came the fantasy.
I've always loved fantasy and romance, but over the past few years I started leaning much more intentionally into that side of my creativity.I began creating costumes and props, building more elaborate sets, experimenting with light painting and nighttime photography, taking shoots outdoors in ridiculous locations, and figuring out how to turn the ideas that lived in my imagination into photographs. And I loved every second of it.Fantasy gave me another way to explore the same thing I'd discovered through portraiture: the person underneath the image matters more than the image itself.A character can represent courage. Freedom. Sensuality. Strength. Rebellion. Adventure. Softness. Power. And sometimes stepping into that story gives us permission to experience those parts of ourselves, too. That's where Scarlet Sage really came together.

What Scarlet Sage is today

Scarlet Sage is a place for self-expression, imagination, and transformation. Sometimes that means celebrating exactly who you are. Sometimes it means exploring a side of yourself you've never had the opportunity to express. And sometimes it means putting on the costume, stepping into an entirely new world, and becoming the character you've always dreamed about.BE — Your Own Muse.EXPLORE — Who You Are.BECOME — Your Fantasy.Whatever brings you to my camera, I want you to have a genuinely good time while we're creating something you're excited to see hanging on your wall.I want you to laugh. I want you to experiment. I want you to surprise yourself. And most of all, I want you to walk away with photographs that make you stop for a moment and think: “Wow. That's me.”Because it is.

And I can't wait to show you.
